Chaikin Volatility Node
Volatility Rate of Change
Overview
Chaikin Volatility measures the rate of change of the high-low spread using exponential moving averages. It shows whether volatility is accelerating (rising) or decelerating (falling).
Rising Chaikin Volatility indicates increasing volatility and often signals upcoming breakouts or significant moves. Falling Chaikin Volatility indicates decreasing volatility and potential consolidation. This indicator is excellent for detecting volatility regime changes before they become obvious to most traders.

Tips & Best Practices
📊 Combine with Price Action
Use Chaikin to confirm price signals. Rising Chaikin + price breakout = strong signal.
⚡ Zero Line Crossovers
Crossings above/below zero line signal volatility expansion/contraction changes.
💰 Early Warning Signal
Rising Chaikin before price jumps gives you early warning. Enter before the official breakout.
⚠️ Divergences Matter
When price makes new highs but Chaikin drops, trend is weakening. Good reversal setup.
Example Strategy
Volatility expansion breakout strategy:
1. Setup Phase
Market consolidates with falling Chaikin volatility (stays negative)
2. Trigger Signal
Chaikin crosses above zero line (volatility expansion begins)
3. Entry
Enter breakout direction when price closes outside recent range
4. Exit
When Chaikin peaks and turns down (volatility exhaustion)
